Empowering wellbeing through shared experience
The Project 24 resilience workshops are a new initiative co-produced by MindSpring Cardiff and ILA-WALES, designed to help asylum-seekers and refugees strengthen their mental health. These sessions will be delivered entirely in Spanish, creating a safe space where participants can openly share and grow together.
Led by Carlos Ibarra, the workshops begin in May 2025 and will take place over seven sessions, each focused on building inner strength, coping with stress, and increasing emotional resilience.
Why resilience matters
Many asylum-seekers and refugees face traumatic experiences before, during, and after migration. Adapting to a new culture, language and system while carrying past burdens can deeply affect their mental health. That’s why Project 24 resilience workshops focus on tools to:
- Understand and manage stress and anxiety
- Build emotional stability and self-esteem
- Connect with others who share similar experiences
- Support long-term wellbeing in a new environment

Inclusive, supportive, and co-produced
What makes Project 24 resilience workshops special is the participatory model. These are not lectures—they are interactive, group-based, and culturally sensitive. They are co-designed with local organisations who understand the realities of the migrant experience.
We are especially proud to collaborate with MindSpring Cardiff, a programme that has helped many migrant communities across Europe build resilience in meaningful ways.
